Mint Hill NC Highland Games

Wallace, Buchanan, Gunn, and Morrison are all names familiar to residents of Mint Hill NC.  Living descendants of Mint Hill’s original settlers bear these names.  The annual Mint Hill Highland Games celebrate the area’s Scottish heritage and the Scots-Irish who settled here in the 18th century.

The seventh annual Mint Hill Highland Games were held in early May this year at the Mint Hill Park.  Ten clans set up tents with displays of clan tartans and clan society information.  Athletic games included seven events of strength in three divisions for Masters, Newbies, and the elite “A” group who are capable of setting world records.
