Take a drive along the landscaped parkway into Union County’s The Reserve neighborhood and you’ll pass grassy open spaces with a pretty lake. You’ll love the views there but the sight at the end of the parkway will astonish you.
Why? The parkway ends at a large area dominated by a North Carolina Champion Tree. It’s the largest willow oak in the state and it is truly a magnificent sight. This tree is about 85 feet tall and 25 feet in circumference. The tree has been preserved by the homeowners association at The Reserve in the common area adjacent to the community clubhouse and pool.
The Reserve was built by Centex Homes from 2003 to 2006. It’s a large neighborhood organized into several villages. The sections with larger homes have home sites of a third to half acre or more. Most homes have brick fronts and vinyl sides but you can find full brick homes as well. Two sections on lots of less than a third acre have smaller, lower-priced homes.
