Union County NC Neighborhoods--Cureton

Cureton, a Union County NC neighborhood, is located on 380 acres in the small town of Waxhaw The community is designed to be a mixed use development of single family homes, townhomes and retail uses.  The residential section of the neighborhood is organized into villages of homes in various price points, sizes and styles.  The retail area of the neighborhood includes a grocery store, restaurants, banks and other shops.

Construction began in the mid-2000s, slowed to a standstill during the recession, and now has begun again with multiple builders offering new homes.  Ryan, Ryland, MI Home and Cunnane are currently building in the neighborhood.Cureton in Waxhaw NC

A 4000 square foot amenity center with clubhouse and pool serves the neighborhood.  Walking trails and a pond add to the walkability of the neighborhood.  Nearby downtown Waxhaw offers residents additional shopping opportunities, a farmers market and several community festivals during the year.

Cureton Real Estate Market

Twenty single family homes and seven townhomes closed in Cureton in 2011.  Closed prices for single family homes ranged from $174,500 to $460,000.  The heated area of the homes spanned approximately 2000 square feet to over 6,000 square feet.  The townhome closings were $109,900 to $151,500 with sizes of approximately 1000 square feet to over 1400 square feet.  Thirty five percent of the single family homes were market resales and 35% were new construction.  The remaining homes were distressed sales.  All of the townhome sales were market resales.

Cureton Location and Schools

Cureton is located between Providence Road, Gray Byrum Road and Kensington Road in Waxhaw.  Neighborhood children attend the highly-regarded Cuthbertson schools.  For more information about the area, visit Union County’s public website.
